Hug a tree, Love a tree, Paint a tree :)

Hug a tree, Love a tree, Paint a tree :)

Our town had a huge storm this week. It snuck up in the night at approximately 3:30 and 40 seconds (or at least that is when our clock froze when the power went out). The roof of the community beach house, by the river, flew across the street and knocked out the beautiful glass facade of our library. The tree that I painted here> is one that is in our yard. Half of the tree fell across our driveway and blocked us in for the day. We were all safe and all of the neighbors that I know of are safe as well. What I didn't know...was how much of my heart lives in the trees in our town. Giant trees laying flat with roots systems wrenched out of the ground. The next day, I was driving toward downtown and I gasped. My daughter thought a cat ran out into the street...or something.I gasped when I noticed that one of my most beloved trees was GONE. My heart dropped. This is a tree that I always wanted to paint. Whenever I drove by that tree, I just loved it and told myself i need to get a good picture so I could paint that tree! So, it was a message to myself. Don't wait. Jump on it. You never know what tomorrow will bring. PAINT THE TREE. :)
